Just Johnsons's Millworks grew from a family tradition dating back to the late 1990's. Starting in their garage, John and Deborah Johnson began restoring furniture and mouldings in 2001. Their relationship with Ideal Saw started at this time. As requests started coming in they soon needed to hire additional help. They hires Skip, their first veteran at this time. Their daughter Casey also wanted a job, sparking the idea that would become Employment Through Adaptation or ETA. In conjunction with ETA, the Millworks started hiring and working with mentally and physically challanged individuals to learn job skills and work place etiquette.
Having built furniture for restaurants, preschools, temples, and church, and with more orders coming in, they quickly outgrew their garage. In 2004 they moved to Easton Drive, buying more mill equipment, and hiring more people. In 2005, they acquired CNC mahine giving them the ability to manufacture high end cabinets and furnitures. On the same year, they created Tech-Genesis Unlimited, a hardware and software company, intended to make the workplace accessible to the mentally and physically challanged people. In 2006, Just Johnson's expanded to their second location in Tehachappi. Also in November of that year, having increased in size yet again, they moved to 2314 Perseus Court Bakersfield CA.
Just Johnson's Millworks and ETA, now employed more than 50 people. Over 90% of their equipment has been purchased from Ideal Saw. They started apprenticeship programs for high schools and local colleges. They continue to be a positive influence on the local disabled and veteran communities in particular, and Kern County in general.
